1) What is your Check Your Game Story?
–> Going into my junior year of high school I put an emphasis on lifting weights on a regular basis and gaining weight and while I was only 185 and 6’3” (still pretty lean) I found that becoming stronger and quicker gave me an edge on other athletes
2) If you could give advice to a current athlete, what advice would that be?
–> No coaches in high school talk about the extras outside of the sport… Staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, getting good rest, allowing your body to heal, reducing stress, making smart decisions. All these things play a huge factor in the success as an athlete. If you just expect to show up at practice and do the bare minimum you are not going to be optimizing your potential.
“Thanks Grady for sharing. It sounds like you too have realized how much sports is affected by so many choices outside of sport physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. And I do get it. Doing the bare minimum just doesn’t cut it. Maybe for the short term but it catches up to you really quickly! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.”
